In 1967, after a few years of working on the aerospace technology for the Apollo missions, Dick Allen was out of a job. Government cutbacks led Allen, a Harvard-trained physicist, to transform his garage hobby into a new industry. A cycling enthusiast, inventor, and family man, Allen had a personal need for a bike-carrying device. On weekends, he would take his sons and wife to Cape Cod or the White Mountains of New Hampshire. After doing extensive price comparison and research, my husband and I settled on this rack for towing around our two mountain bikes. I tore open the box and within minutes before even reading instructions I was twisting and turning and figuring it out – if you take a long hard look at it, I think it’s quite intuitive. With a quick look at the instructions to make sure I wasn’t going to break it, I was ready to go try it out on my car – 2005 Ford Escape and my husband’s car – 2005 Ford Focus ZX4 with a factory installed spoiler. I read on another website that this bike rack was compatable with cars with spoilers (stated: compatable with most factory installed spoilers). From tearing open the box to getting it set on a car took me less than ten minutes. No lie! The padding on this is nice where it contacts the car, the craddles for the bikes are nice and grippy and sturdy, the fold-flat design is wonderful and very easy to use, the set up is a breeze for one person and take-down is just as easy, loading the bikes was easy, too. It looks really nice, both bikes made it in and out of the rack after a short car ride with no damage, bumps, bruises, loss, etc.

**Oh, P.S. if you are reading this and have a ladies or bent-frame bike make sure you pick up or have an adapter bar (Allen also makes one of these which I also got and am very pleased with as it’s easy to use and gentle on my bike) so that your bike will be able to be safely mounted on the rack correctly.

We had a tough time finding a bumper mounted bike rack for 4 bikes that would be shipped to an FPO address. After reading tons of reviews on other bikes we went with this one even though it was a bit more expensive. It was worth every penny. It arrived promptly…given that it had to go to Japan. It was easy to mount on our vehicle. It is incredibly sturdy and holds up to 150 pounds…more than enough for our bikes. I also like that I can still open the back hatch on the car while the rack is one there….I just need to retighten the straps. An excellent purchase worth every penny.

I have been racing BMX for over 10 years. Trust me it is a very good bike. There is only one problem though… NOTHING. My favorite part about this bike is that it is really light and easy to handle. Its really good bike for anyone that wants to race BMX or go freestyle, its also a great bike for just riding around. Its just not that comfortable for going on long bike rides. Normally it comes in a 24″ rims. Like i said i have used this bike so much that i am accually on my 3rd bike. I would highly recommened getting this bike.

We have one man’s and one woman’s comfort bikes and the different length center main clamps of the rack are perfectly suited to these differences in bike design. I purchased this bicycle for my son’s 8th birthday. He has been off trainers for a while and is ready for handle brakes. I like that the bike has both a handle brake and a pedal brake. This is perfect for this learning transition. Shorter riders will quickly realize that grabbing the handle brake can help in steadying the bike while mounting.

I am very impressed with the quality of parts. Aluminum rims, easily adjustable gooseneck, long seat post for maximum adjustability, these features can be very helpful in extending the life of the bike.

The size of the bike frame and riding position fit my son perfectly. For your consideration I will say the frame minimum standing clearance is 20 inches. I do not recommend this bike for a child whose inseam is less than 21 inches. My son measures 21 inch inseam and is very comfortable riding.

The package arrived with a full set of allen wrenches and a open ended wrench. All tools necessary for initial assembly are in the box. If you buy, be sure to check all bolts before riding. The factory does not always get every one tight

I just received it from Amazon last week, set it up immediately, and only took it to the bike store to make sure of everything. It does NOT ride like a toy, as one customer said, but is far more steady than any Dahon I’ve ridden. It’s a bit too heavy for me to lift up, but others may not find that a problem. Once you get the catch open – it’s difficult because a lot of pressure is needed, but that’s for safety reasons – it folds easily. For a man, this would be easier. An absolute pleasure to have the LOOP AT THE BOTTOM, AND NOT TO HAVE TO PUT MY LEG OVER A HIGHER BAR. The handle bar is fixed and can’t be adjusted, but it’s fine for me. The seat is adjustable, though. Goes up hills easily. This is far superior to the citizen bikes, in my opinion, with their rickety chain that falls off easily. It is rather larger than appears in the pictures, so look at the specifications carefully. I was surprised that Schwinn put it into such a shabby carton for the trip from China and then to other places before it came to me. All I did was rip the side of the carton open, and the bike slid out (folded, of course.)

Have not used this product too much yet, will update my review later. For now: it is surprisingly bright, seems more than its 200 rating. I like the bar clamp however it is best to use a couple winds of electical tape or similar around the bar before installing the clamp to provide additional material and keep the mount from slipping on the bare bar. The helmet mount works but could use a little help. I think the rubber pads just will not stay put on the slippery exterior of bike helmets. I don’t really ever expect much out of velcro helment attachements of any kind and don’t really fault the manufacturer, again, I’ll just use electrical tape instead for a non-slip, easy to remove install. Glad the unit comes with both attachments (bar, helmet) seems to be solid, able to charge via wall plug or USB, like the charging/charge lites so you know its charged, and the single unit / no chords.
